Your files

Files you check or clean are read and processed by code running in your browser. They are not uploaded to metadatachecker.com or to anyone else, and we never see their contents, names or metadata. The cleaned copy is created in your browser and saved directly to your device.

Two optional actions do contact another site: Open on OpenStreetMap opens openstreetmap.org with the coordinates in the address, and following links to sources opens those sites. Both happen only if you click.

Anonymous usage counts

When you use the tool, the page sends a small message to metadatachecker.com naming the action and the general file type, for example "check, jpeg" or "download, pdf", and which tool page you used. It contains no file contents, file names, metadata values or identifiers. We store these as counts in Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine to see whether the tool is useful and which formats fail. We do not store IP addresses with them. Cloudflare keeps this data for three months.

Page views

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure page performance. Cloudflare adds a small script from static.cloudflareinsights.com that reports to this site's own address. Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not collect or use visitors' personal data. We see aggregate reports only, such as pages visited, referrers and countries.

Hosting and email

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request information (such as IP address and browser) to deliver pages and protect the service. If you email us, we receive your email address and message and use them only to reply.

Cookies and storage

Our own code sets no cookies and does not use local storage.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 13 and collects no personal information from them.
